Comporta is a small village popular during the summer season. It covers an area of about 1 kilometer by 0.5 kilometers (approximately 0.62 miles by 0.31 miles). The village is located south of the Troia Peninsula in the Alentejo region, near Alcácer do Sal. It is surrounded by vast rice fields, pine forests, sandy beaches, and views of the Sado River. The main part of the village is less than one kilometer from the Comporta beach.
One of the main attractions of the region is Praia da Comporta. This accessible beach is located at the southern end of the Troia Peninsula and is part of the Sado Estuary Natural Reserve. The beach is near Herdade da Comporta, a historic estate dating back to 1836. Visitors can tour the winery on the estate and taste local wines.

Other beaches in the area include
- Praia da Torre, known for its quiet and semi-deserted character,
- Lagoa Formosa, a development that overlooks the rice fields.
- Praia do Carvalhal, a bathing area protected by cliffs with necessary facilities;
- Praia do Pego, known for its long beach and calm sea;
- Praia da Raposa, which is only accessible by walking on the sand and tends to feel almost private;
- Praia do Pinheirinho, a place to enjoy nature;
- Praia Galé de Fontaínhas, where the sand cliffs create a unique scenery.
A popular tourist attraction for photography is the Porto Palafítico da Carrasqueira. This restored wooden pier on stilts was once used by local fishermen and is now a well-known spot for capturing sunset images.

Comporta offers natural beauty, historical sites, and a variety of beaches, making it a pleasant destination for visitors who enjoy outdoor activities and nature.
