Sines is a Portuguese city with 12 463 inhabitants, located on the Setúbal Peninsula. It plays a key role in global trade since its Port of Sines accommodates large container ships that bring goods from around the world.
There are several interesting places to visit in Sines, such as:
- The historic center (the old part of the city)
- Castelo de Sines
- Centro de Artes de Sines
- Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Salvas
- A variety of beaches, including Vasco da Gama, São Torpes, Morgavel, Vale-Figueiros-Vieirinha, and Porto Covo
Porto de Recreio de Sines is the only recreational port along the coast between Setúbal and the Algarve. The city is also known for its rich culinary scene, offering many delicious seafood dishes such as açorda, shellfish feijoada, fried fish migas, snail rice, limpets rice, limpets açorda, beans with seafood, cuttlefish salad, conch salad, roe salad, almond cakes called “Vasquinhos,” and cakes known as “Areias de Sines.”
Just south of Sines, in Porto Covo, you will find the Pestana Porto Covo Beach Residences. This area is rapidly developing and has become popular with celebrities and notable figures investing in properties.
